Sept 2014 in review

Another month done, and what a busy month. My son finally started kindergarten after a 3 week delay. He’s loving it, although he has a graduated entry, so it only starts full day every day next week. We’ll see how much he loves it once it’s an every day thing. For me, this has been a tough month as I have been exhausted and feeling ill for most of it. I think it’s due mostly to the weather change. It’s been up and down here and fall is definitely starting. Hopefully October is filled with better health and less exhaustion. […]

Aug 2014 in review

The end of August already. This normally feels like the end of summer to me, but with the hot weather raging all month, it doesn’t feel like fall yet. In good news, I had another very book filled month. If I keep this up, I’ll hit my book goal for the year around the end of next month, which feels crazy. Books read: In August – 16 Year-to-date – 107 Favourite book of the month: Like a lot of months, I had some trouble picking my favourite read of the month, but I’ve settled on Shadow and Bone (The Grisha […]

July 2014 in review

Summer seems to be passing in fast leaps and slow stretches. We’ve had both record breaking hot temperatures, and several very cool nights where we actually closed the windows. Not much rain though, although definitely more than last year where we had no rain at all in July. Books read: In July – 15 Year-to-date – 89 Favourite book of the month: I had a difficult time choosing my favourite book this month because I read a wide variety of genres to suit my mood. I’m going to go with Evening Stars (Blackberry Island #3) by Susan Mallery. This whole […]

May 2014 in review

I feel like I say this every month, but where did the time go? This month was so fast. I had a great month with vacation and family visits and my son’s birthday. Even with all that going on, I still managed to get some great reading done. Books read: In June – 11 Year-to-date – 60 Favourite book of the month: Without a doubt, my favourite book this month was First Grave On The Right by Darynda Jones. I called this book my spirit animal on Twitter because it has everything I love in one book, and the author […]

April 2014 in review

April was a good month. I had a great birthday, and had lots of time off. Spring has definitely come here, and it was very enjoyable to start spending more time outside. Books read: In April – 10 Year-to-date – 48 Favourite book of the month: This was a tough decision between Sins of the Son and Poison Study (finished last week), but I’m choosing Sins of the Son because it’s rare case where I loved book #2 more than book #1. Noteworthy Happenings: I had my birthday giveaway and Anubha won a book of her choice. I discussed my […]

March 2014 in review

Another month over already. Spring is definitely on its way here, even if it’s not in other parts of the country. I’m really looking forward to the next two months. My birthday is coming very soon, and I have quite a bit of time off in April, so I’m hoping to get lots of nice weather outside, and lots of reading done. Books read: In March – 10 Year-to-date – 36 Favourite book of the month: An easy choice for me. Flawed Perfection by Cassandra Giovanni left me with a book hangover so strong that I didn’t even want to […]

February 2014 in review

February went out with a bang and quite a lot of snow over the past week. It was fun to get a bit of winter weather here, but I’m ready for spring. Everything is so fresh and new and exciting in the spring. This past month was another great reading month, although I am falling behind in writing reviews. That’s not good since I haven’t been taking notes while reading, but I’m sure I’ll get it figured out. Books read: In February – 11 Year-to-date – 26 Favourite book of the month: I had 2 5-star reads this month, but […]

January 2014 in review

It’s hard to believe that January is over already. It went by so fast. It was a very sucessful reading month for me though. I love starting off the year on a good reading foot. Books read: In Jan – 15 Year-to-date – 15 Favourite book of the month: I had 2 5-star reads this month, but without a doubt, my favourite book was Night Blade (Colbana Files #2) by J.C. Daniels. Noteworthy Happenings: I had 2 discussion posts this month: Finding Time for Audiobooks and Reading Series Books Reviews. I’ve been slacking on working at updating old posts. I […]

December in review

I can’t believe that December, or the entire year is over already. This past month flew by so fast. I feel like I’ve been saying that all year. I’m not sure why time is moving so quickly lately, but I wish it would slow down a bit. Regardless, it’s been a good year. I look forward to seeing what 2014 brings. This was a very slow reading month for me. I had quite a few days where I didn’t feel like reading at all, and then I was quite sick. I’m back to reading, and with only 4 books to go to meet my goal for the year, I’m quite sure I’ll make it.
