Review: 12.21

This was an exciting, science based story about an epidemic with Mayan ties. It features several characters, but mostly focuses on scientist Dr Gabriel Stanton and Mayan expert Chel Manu as they race to find the source and cure for the epidemic. I usually love disaster stories, and this was no exception. An epidemic happens very quickly, and so the story must move along at the same speed. I thought that the ending seemed a touch rushed and a little too neat, but the rest of the story was smooth and exciting. I found the science easy to understand, and […]

Review: Lethal Circuit + Giveaway

This was an exciting, politically charged spy thriller. There were lots of twists and turns and surprises that I never saw coming. It made for a very thrilling story, although I did find the political and historical parts a bit hard to follow. The story was split between the current day action and many flashbacks to Michael’s childhood. He had a tramatic childhood as he was kidnapped when he was a teenager. The flashbacks and memories didn’t seem to have a purpose at first, but the significance is revealed later in the story. The audiobook version of the story did […]

Review: The White Queen

This was an interesting story that mixes history with a bit of magic. The story revolves around the life of Elizabeth Woodville, and is full of political intrigue and war. I found the story quite long. There was a bit of repetition, and everything seems to move slowly. There were several times when I started to get bored because there wasn’t a lot happening. This may be partly because I’m not a history buff, and don’t know much about English monarch history. I got lost in the extensive cast of characters at times. I loved the addition of the magic. […]
