Week in review May 10

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! This week has actually been all about my son here. It was his 6th birthday on Thursday, and today is his birthday party. Hopefully the weather stays nice and we can have everyone running around in the backyard with the bouncy castle. Otherwise they’ll be all over the house. Books read: Being Emily – This is such a powerful story about a girl born in a boy’s body. It was a very captivating read. Once a Thief -Light-hearted and fun, this book was exactly was I was wanting at the time – a pure entertainment […]

Week in review May 3

It’s the first update of May! Oh, how quickly time flies! This past week felt quiet and slow while it was happening, but looking back, it seems more quick. I’m very excited that I found a good deal on a flight back to Ontario, so my son and I will be going on a vacation to see my family in June! It will be his first time back in almost two years, and only my second time. I’m looking forward to it so much! Books read: Revive – There were so many twists and reveals, that it’s going to be […]

April 2015 in review

I had a better reading month than March, but just barely. I spent a lot of the month too tired to do much, even read. But I’ve been feeling better this past week, so hopefully my reading speed picks up again. I feel like I’m barely keeping up with my Netgalley picks, let alone all the other books on my TBR pile. Books read: In April – 11 Year-to-date – 56 Favourite book of the month: I had a number of 5 star reads this month, but my favourite goes to The Well by Catherine Chanter. My review will be […]

Week in review Apr 26

So tired. That’s my summary of the week. I’m not sure what it is, but I’ve been exhausted all week. I napped after work most days, and went to bed early most nights, and I’m still super tired. Hopefully whatever this is will pass quickly and I’ll get some energy back so I can enjoy the mostly nice weather we’ve been having. Books read: The Well – This book had such an overwhelming melancholy feel, I had to read it in small chunks because the feeling of the book kept soaking into me. The ending was surprisingly satisfying though. Spider’s […]

Week in review Apr 19

This past week has been pretty quiet. The weather here is getting gorgeous, and yesterday was beautiful t-shirt weather. By sheer coincidence, there was a midway in town this weekend, so we went there for a few hours yesterday. My son had lots of fun on the rides. I think his favourite was a tie between the giant slide and the dragon rollercoaster. I went on the later one with him, and while I used to love rollercoasters when I was younger, I don’t think I’m a huge fan anymore. But he loved it, so that’s what matters. Books read: […]

Week in review Apr 12

This week was really all about Friday. It seemed like such a day. First, in the 30 seconds it takes for me to walk from our home computer to my office for work, our internet went out. Apparently it was out for most of the town, and since I need that for work, I had an unintended day off work. It was mostly spent lounging on the couch singing songs with my son and reading. Once the internet (and cable) came back up, our computer died. Like lagged so bad nothing could be opened or closed or clicked. It’s been […]

Week in review Apr 5

I’m sure you guessed that it was my birthday a few days ago. The giveaway probably gave it away. I had a very relaxing birthday. We didn’t do much at all. We went for a walk on the beach, I played Lego Batman with my son (he got the PS3 game a week ago and hasn’t stopped playing since), and I read some. My husband and I went out for dinner the day before, but we didn’t do anything on my actual birthday. It was just very nice. Books read: Wild Wood – Yes, my review went up already. I […]

March 2015 in review

As I mentioned earlier this week, March has been a reading slump month. I’ve been flying through audiobooks, sometimes 2 a week, but physical and ebooks have been super slow. Books read: In March – 9 Year-to-date – 42 Favourite book of the month: I love finding a new series, and for this reason Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles #1) by Kevin Hearne is my favourite book of the month. This book has so much awesome humour in it. Reading it gave me the same joy reading First Grave on the Right gave me. I totally love paranormal books with […]

Week in review Mar 29

I think it’s safe to say I’m officially in a reading slump. I’ve barely read any books this month, only audiobooks. I’ve been flying through those, and this week was no exception. Books read: Now You See Me – An interesting British-based mystery with a ton of twists and turns. The audiobook is narrated with an awesome accent. The Truth About Alice – I’ve been lusting over this book since I first heard about the ARCs. I’m so glad I finally got to experience it. Inside the O’Briens – So much crying. I read this all in one day, one […]

Week in review Mar 22

This was another slow reading week. I don’t have any reasoning, and nothing much happened this week, I just didn’t feel like picking up my book much. Books read: The Private School Murders – A quick and intricate YA murder mystery whose audiobook narration features a very age appropriate sounding voice. Masks and Mirrors – I think I liked it, but it wasn’t very memorable at all. Books received: none
