'My name is Lucas Soul. Today, I died again. This is my fifteenth death in the last four hundred and fifty years.'

Soul is an outcast of the immortal societies. Born of a Bastian mother and a Crovir father, a half breed whose very existence is abhorred by the two races, he spends the first three hundred and fifty years of his life being chased and killed by the Hunters.

One fall night in Boston, the Hunt starts again, resulting in Soul’s fifteenth death and triggering a chain of events that sends him on the run with Reid Hasley, a former US Marine and his human business partner of ten years. From Paris to Prague, their search for answers will lead them deep into the immortal societies and bring them face to face with someone from Soul’s past. Shocking secrets are uncovered and fresh allies come to the fore as they attempt to put a stop to a new and terrifying threat to both immortals and humans.

Time is running out for Soul. Can he get to the truth before his seventeenth death, protect the ones he loves and prevent another immortal war?

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This was a very action packed story that offered an entirely new paranormal creature. Actually two new creatures, the Crovirs and the Bastians, who are immortal races that are hiding in plain sight. Similar to humans, but also very different.

I loved the depth and background given to both races. There is a whole history woven into the story, with details doled out in easy to digest chunks. Everything flows together well and creates a detailed story with truly unique characters.

The plot of the story was very action packed and exciting. There was always something happening or something developing, and the intensity only seemed to build as the story went on. This is one of those stories that you want to devour faster and faster as the momentum grows.

I listened to the audiobook version, and it was a great adventure. The voice fit Lucas well, and the energy matched the story. The narration complimented the story well, and was an enjoyable experience.

Overall, this was a thrilling paranormal story that offered a lot of action. It was exciting and fast paced and felt like a movie. I loved meeting an entirely new race, and can’t wait to see/hear/read what happens next.
