Mar 312015

As I mentioned earlier this week, March has been a reading slump month. I’ve been flying through audiobooks, sometimes 2 a week, but physical and ebooks have been super slow.

Books read:

In March – 9
Year-to-date – 42

Favourite book of the month: I love finding a new series, and for this reason Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles #1) by Kevin Hearne is my favourite book of the month. This book has so much awesome humour in it. Reading it gave me the same joy reading First Grave on the Right gave me. I totally love paranormal books with huge doses of humour.

Noteworthy Happenings:

I was actually in a discussion mood this month and had 3 discussion posts. First I talked about how audiobooks can bring characters to life, then I wondered whether you needed to be a romantic to enjoy romance books, and finally I contemplated ebooks and young readers.

Monthly Stats:

We come to my favourite part of the post: pretty graphs and revealing stats.
Mar age genre stat
First up is the age genres I read. My split this month is pretty close to my going average for the year.

March ratings stat
My ratings for the month were really all over the map. I didn’t DNF any books, but I did have a few lower ratings. As usual, 4 stars is my most frequent rating. It’s interesting to note that I have no 1 star reviews so far this year. I find it hard to rate something one star, I will usually choose to DNF it instead.

March genre stats
Lastly, the genres. I decided to stick just with the bar graph this month, and gee, can you tell what I like to read? I will admit that I’m always surprised to see how many contemporary books I read since I don’t consider this a genre that I read a lot. But apparently I do.

  1. love the stats! i have been in a reading slump this year but i did mange to devour a couple mysteries this month, so that’s a good sign 🙂

    • The year is still young, so you could come out of the slump. You just need that one book that makes you want to read it all in one sitting. I find that helps kickstart more reading.

  2. You had a good month for books, I will have to check out Hounded.
    Happy April reading!

    • I know that Hounded has mixed reviews, mostly based on whether you enjoy the humour in it. I really did. I found it had a similar style to the Charley Davidson series (First Grave… etc), so if you like that series, you’ll likely like this one.
