Experience the thrill of the hunt in the third October Daye urban fantasy novel.
October "Toby" Daye is a changeling-half human and half fae-and the only one who has earned knighthood. Now she must take on a nightmarish new challenge. Someone is stealing the children of the fae as well as mortal children, and all signs point to Blind Michael. Toby has no choice but to track the villain down-even when there are only three magical roads by which to reach Blind Michael's realm, home of the Wild Hunt-and no road may be taken more than once. If Toby cannot escape with the children, she will fall prey to the Wild Hunt and Blind Michael's inescapable power.
This is THE book of the series so far. I totally cried near the end. There was just so much emotion. More so than any other book in the series so far. It was just awesome.
There is so much in this book that is not mentioned in the summary, so it’s hard to talk about anything for fear of spoilers. This includes the narration of the audiobook. The voice so far has always surprised me with how soft and mature it sounds, and there is a twist to this story that affects the narration, and I think it was handled brilliantly. The narration fit the story perfectly.
I was happy to see both Quentin and Tybalt getting page time. Tybalt is totally my favourite. He’s so fun, and the chemistry between him and Toby is awesome. Quentin makes a great sidekick. He really brings out the maternal and protective side of Toby, even though she totally doesn’t see it. Her concern for him, and really all children, is very refreshing for urban fantasy. Toby isn’t just a kick-butt strong heroine, she’s very well rounded and human, even though technically she’s half-fey.
Overall, I loved this story. It is definitely the best so far, and has a great twist that makes the story totally different than anything else. All the emotions got to me in the end, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This is definitely a series that I want to just gobble up.
