Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back! And she's drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on. How is she supposed to solve a missing persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hell-bent on murder when the devil's son just won't give up?
I love this series. Seriously love this series. Since I’ve been reading a book month, you know it’s serious. This is just a great, sink into and laugh your butt off series. The characters, Charley’s inner monologue, and all the dialogue are just so entertaining.
I love the characters we already knew, Cookie, Ubie, etc, but the new ones are great additions to the series. I hope we see more of Donovan and his motorcycle gang, as well as Mistress Marigold. She’s very much a mystery that should be fun to solve.
Getting back to old characters, Reyes behaviour wasn’t my favourite. He’s definitely not what you’d call a nice guy, and there were several times in the book where I didn’t like him much at all. Same goes from Charley’s dad, what is with the annoying and rude behaviour? At least Reyes has depth, and so many mysteries, it’s easy to fall under his thrall again.
And Garrett. Oh how I love Garrett. There is a scene at the end of the book that is just killer. I don’t want to spoil it by saying anything else, but it had me crying. It was just so… I can’t even describe it in full sentences.
Overall, love the book, love the series. I can’t wait to jump into book 4 next month. I need to get back to Garrett, and Reyes, and Charley’s sassy story.
