Kit Colbana is always biting off more than she can chew. She has a knack for finding trouble. This time, though, trouble finds her. Someone from her past drops a case into her lap that she just can’t refuse…literally.
People on the Council are dying left and right and she’s been requested to investigate the deaths. The number one suspect? Her lover, Damon. If she doesn’t clear his name, he gets a death sentence. Even if she succeeds? They still might try to execute him. Oh, and she’s not allowed to tell him about the case, either.
The stakes are high this time around, higher than they’ve ever been. Kit may be forced to pay the ultimate price to save her lover’s life…a price that could destroy her and everything she loves.
Oh god, the feels! This got me right in the feels! It hurts so good!
If you can’t guess, I loved this book. It was very exciting, and the ending was just killer. Poor Kit. I just wanted to cry for her. She’s such a strong character and has been through so much, that the ending (actually the last third) is just totally unfair and painful. Someone needs to hurt for it.
While I loved Damon in the first book, I must say that I didn’t care for him as much in this book. He was too overly alpha and possessive for my taste. His character used to be all wit and sarcasm, and that wasn’t the case in this book. It was disappointing, but it made me that much more supportive of Kit’s actions at the end. Screw you jerk, you deserve it!
One of the characters that did shine in this book was Doyle. He’s such a pain in the butt, but in a good way. I like him more in tiger form, because his heart shines through and I just want to hug him. I have a feeling he will appear a lot more in book 3, and I couldn’t be happier.
Overall, this was an amazing book. When I finished it I was so keyed up, I didn’t know if I wanted to scream, punch or kiss someone. I need to know what happens next. I already bought the next book and plan to dive in right away.
