Nov 012011

The 2011 E-book Challenge was hosted by The Ladybug Reads. She has decided not to host it for 2012, and I was the lucky lottery winner who gets to host it. That’s right, there was so much interest from people wanting to host it that she had to hold a lottery.

Challenge Guidelines:

  1. This challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012.
  2. Anyone can join, you don’t need to be a blogger. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to sign-up in the comments. You can post reviews to any book site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads, etc).
  3. Any genre or length of book counts, as long as it is in ebook format.
  4. You can list your books in advance or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, feel free to change them as the mood takes you.
  5. When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the E-Book Reading Challenge.
  6. You can move up levels, but no moving down.
  7. Sign-ups will be open until Dec 15, 2012, so feel free to join at any time throughout the year.

  1. Floppy disk – 5 ebooks
  2. CD – 10 ebooks
  3. DVD – 25 ebooks
  4. Memory stick – 50 ebooks
  5. Hard drive – 75 ebooks
  6. Server – 100 ebooks
  7. Human brain – 150 ebooks

At the beginning of each month there will be a roundup post for you to add your reviews for that month. If you forget, feel free to add your reviews in the following month. Any reviews submitted will be entered into the draw for that month.

Yes, there will be draws every month for participants. As long as you are signed up below, every review you add to the monthly roundups will get one entry into the giveaway for that month.

There will also be a grand giveaway at the end of the year for eveyone who achieves their goal level (orย  higher). There may be different prizes for different levels, but that is not decided yet. If you are an author and want to contribute to the monthly or grand prizes, please contact me.

  1. I don't have a blog but I have lots of e-books to read! So I would like to sign up for the CD level. I may go up later but reading 10 of them is better than nothing.

  2. I'm so jealous that you get to host this! ๐Ÿ˜€ I'm an ebook maniac and I will be shooting for at least the Memory Stick level. I love the names that you came up with and I love that there are giveaways! This is going to be so much fun!!

  3. I do not have a blog so please sign me up for the CD level to begin.

Thanks for the challenge and for hosting.

  4. Oh I was going to pass this because I'll have school for most of the year but there are going to be a lot of brakes so I'll have time to do one of the lower levels. Maybe CD… It's not like I don't have a ton of ebooks waiting for me to read them!

  5. OOPS! I joined but then deleted, but will join again as soon as I get my post ready.

  6. Just signed up and I am now following you! Thanks!

  7. Hi Sarah!
I'm SO glad I follow you already, or else I would NOT have gotten this email announcing your running this 2012 Ebook Challenge!! ALL this last year I tried to figure out HOW to enter the challenge for 'this' year, and could NEVER figure out how! Now I have found it and AM signing up!! YEAH!! I'd like to take a moment to say THANK YOU!!! It could be a lot of work, and that deserves a HUGE Thank You!!!
I'm going to sign up for the Memory Stick – 50 ebooks!
You know what my FAVORITE thing is about reading an ebook? NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE READING!! HA! As you read a regular book, people always look at what yo are reading, make assumptions about you from what you are reading, and might start up a conversation. At times, when I am reading, I may NOT want to talk! This is GREAT this way! Leave them guessing! When I am in public reading, it's usually in a Dr's office. I've had MORE people ask me about an actual book I'm holding when I'm reading it, when ALL I want to do it READ IT!! This way I have found NO ONE has EVER asked me about the book I am reading now! I LOVE THIS!!
Hey – CONGRATULATIONS on winning your NOOK!!! It's a blessing, isn't it!! I can tell you are enjoying it or else you would NOT have put in for the lottery to sponsor this!
Well, I'm going to go enter the linky and do a Blog Post now!
    Thanks again, SO much!!

  10. Hi. I've been eagerly waiting for the sigmoid to start for the 2012 reading challenges. I've never done one so I have a few questions. I apologize in advance if you've already explained something. I'm still very new to blogging and things around it so I often don't understand the lingo!
    – I don't have a blog tho I may start one during
2012. being a book junkie, I want to have a book blog just like another gazillion book addicts! I guess there's always room for more, right? do I have to post a review for that book to count towards my goal?
    – just to be clear: roundup posts list books read and reviewed from the previous month?
    – the “wrap up” post would be listing everything read and reviewed for the entire year?
    – regardless of the answers to my questions, I would like to sign up and start with the Memory Stick level. I'm pretty confident that I'll go up in levels, but it's a safe place to start.
    thanks for your patience!!

PS. I'm going to sign up to follow you now!

  13. Hi Sarah!
Thanks for doing the ebook challange for 2012! I will definitely be participating this year!I do not have a blog though so please sign me up for the hard drive level! I read a lot so I think that is a reasonable goal! I am planning on doing reviews for the books I read on Goodreads, but I am not sure if that is where I need to sign up, or if you just need a link to my Goodreads page? I have just started following you through GFC, and I will be subscribing to your email as well!

  14. Yeay, thanks for hosting this. I'm up for joining in, and will aim for level 6 – server. So far this year I've read 141 books but some have been tree books, and I'm getting less time to read as my little one gets older so 150 might be a step too far!
