Better late than never, I have Belinda Boring here to answer a few questions. Not only is she a self-published author, she is also a book review blogger and the force behind The Bookish Snob Promotions.

What’s involved in running a book tour?
Quite a lot, depending on how you run your blog tours. For me, I’m part of the entire process from sending out the invite, creating a schedule, designing graphics, putting together a tour package for each blogger with everything they need for their feature to advertising every stop on the tour. I act as the middle man between the author and blogger, answering any questions they may have and resolving concerns that arise. It’s a full service operation and can be time consuming.

How do you find clients?
Mainly by word of mouth. When I first started, I approached author friends and offered to run a tour for them. The more I did, the more I advertised and what I was doing spread. Authors see my banners on various blogs and those who’ve been happy with my services recommend me to their friends. I was fortunate to work with H.P. Mallory and she dedicated a chapter of her recent release, How I Sold 20,000 E-books, to me. I also work with The Romance Reviews, a popular romance site, with providing advertising through them.

How do you find hosts?
When I started, I went through my Google Reader and looked for specific blogs I was following myself. As a blogger, I’d spent over a year visiting different sites and I began emailing out invites. Once I had a steady list, those team members then posted on their blogs, asking followers if they’d be interested. This was a successful way and I was excited by the results. Finally, word of mouth. Bloggers see me advertising on both Twitter and Facebook or on blogs, and they sign up on my website. I am so grateful for those team members I have at the moment. They are dedicated and excited about each tour and I don’t know what I’d do without them!

What’s your favourite part of running book tours?
One of the main reasons why I started organizing book blog tours was because I think it’s important for authors to make connections with readers. I love helping and seeing readers excited because they were able to talk back and forth with the authors of their favourite books. I also love blogging and sharing all the new authors I’ve discovered. One day I had a thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if I could reach more people?” It seemed like a natural step to team up with other bloggers who were just as passionate about romance and the paranormal as me and organise tours. Being part of something fun is definitely one of my favourite things!

What’s your least favourite part of running book tours?
Two things come to mind – being unable to resolve a concern and the truckload of emails that come through my inbox! Heaven help me if I take a few days off and I’m unable to check my emails because they pile up really quick. I recently went to a romance convention and it took me about 4-5 days to answer all the emails I got. It drives me nuts but it’s necessary so I try not to complain too much. LOL and when I do, friends make me giggle by sending goofy messages.

What is the most memorable book tour you’ve run? (good or bad)
Hmmm. I’ve really enjoyed the tours I’ve help run but a few stand out. I try really hard to offer my blog as a stop, and I love doing character interviews. I did one with Vance Mangum, the sexy bad boy from Lacey Weatherford’s Of Witches and Warlocks series, where I beat his evil father up and it earned me a kiss from Vance! I still banter with other bloggers about leaving with his gum in my mouth. I also conducted a swoon test with the male characters of H.P. Mallory’s books, making them take their shirts off. Lots of fun and people get excited. But what really makes a tour memorable is when it’s all over, people are happy. Followers are excited about new books, blog stops are excited about being part of it and authors are excited about making new friends. It’s a win-win for everyone!
