Today I have Angel Haze, co-author of Legacies of Talimura, here to talk about what it’s like to co-author a book.

Legacies of Talimura, a young adult fantasy, is co-written with my husband, Slade. Co-writing a series, particularly with your spouse, is an experience all on its own. It’s exhilarating, rewarding, and sometimes frustrating, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world!

Slade approached me about Legacies of Talimura: War of the Witch (then called Legacy) during the first year we starting dating. War of the Witch was an idea that he had hoped to turn into an RPG game. Inspired by Romance of the Three Kingdoms, RPGs, and an overactive imagination, War of the Witch is a gripping tale of magic and adventure, war and tragedy, and heroes born from the fight.

As we delved deeper into the world of Talimura, I knew there was no turning back. We had stumbled upon something so wonderful, it had to be shared.

Slade is the brilliant storyboarder who would rather spend his time creating storylines and worlds than worrying about how the words come together on the page. I take his ideas and bring them to life.

The bond co-writing this series has created is nothing like anything I’ve ever experienced. Being able to share the passion and success is more than I ever could have asked for. It’s the ability to create something to benefit others, broaden their horizons, enriching their lives while enriching our own. For me, the excitement can be compared to the moment your soul mate proposes and it’s an experience I get to relive again and again.

Of course, it isn’t always the romantic cohesion of thoughts and ideas. Sometimes we butt heads and have different ideas of how a scene should play out or how the cover art should look, but in the end we find a balance, separate our differences, and go with what’s best for the book.

Slade and I will co-author all of our fantasy books. There is no one without the other. Legacies of Talimura ignites your inner childhood, reaching the young adult audience and beyond. The entire series is now mapped out, including sequels and a few prequels, so stay tuned . . .

Thanks for letting us seeing how co-authoring can help make a bond stronger.
